Mine the Ore of the seeds that you want with a Diamond Pickaxe, or break Tall Grass to get the seeds. Then plant the seeds on hoed grass (AKA Farmland) 

Wait and they will grow! 

When you break them you will get the 1 or 2 seeds, and a random amount of the item.
